Born in São Paulo, Brazil. Bachelor in Composition from the University of São Paulo (USP), Master in Arts from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) and Doctor in Music from the University of Rio de Janeiro (UNI-RIO). Studied with Brazilian composers Willy Correa de Oliveira, Gilberto Mendes, Mário Ficarelli and Almeida Prado and with American composer Stephen Hartke. Attended workshops conducted by Ton de Leeuw (Netherlands) and Dimiter Christoff (Bulgary). Also a pianist has furthered his training as a musician with pianist Dr. José Eduardo Martins.

Dr. Celso Mojola is author of about 70 compositions for different instrumental ensembles, from solos to orchestra. His compositions are being performed at the most important events associated with contemporary music in Brazil. Abroad his compositions have yet been performed in more than 20 countries in Europe, Asia and Latin America. In 1993 his Prélude, for piano solo, was executed by British pianist, composer Michael Finnissy during ISMC World Music Days - Mexico City, Mexico; in 2001 his Fanfare for a new century was included in the program of the ISCM World Music Days - Yokohama, Japan. He is likewise involved in teaching activities and in production of texts, having attended a number of seminars and given classes on themes related to Music Education and Contemporary Music in Australia, Japan, Korea, Netherlands and Colombia.

Mr. Mojola has awarded national and international composition contests, has received compositional commissions and research scholarships by various Brazilian institutes and has worked as a free-lance writer for several music periodicals. As a pianist he has performed at solo recitals and with guest musicians in Brazil, Europe and Asia.

He was Secretary of the Brazilian Section of the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM) during the period 1998 - 2001. Mr. Mojola works as Professor in São Paulo at Cantareira University and Carlos Gomes School of Music where teaches Composition, Analysis and Methodology of Scientific Research and directs the Center for Composition Studies (NEC).
